Sound Publishing Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrea Southern as Regional Publisher of the Bothell/Kenmore Reporter and the Redmond Reporter. Mrs. Southern will be assuming her publishing responsibilities as of Monday, May 18th, 2009.

Andrea Southern a native of Jamaica came to the USA to pursue a Communications degree at Loyola Marymount University and married her college sweetheart. She began her career as a video editor in Los Angeles but eventually shifted gears into management as a director at an advertising agency. There she thrived under the pressure of running the traffic department, which was responsible for getting an ad through the creative department and out to all the different media in a timely and efficient manner.

Due to her husband’s job at Boeing she moved to the Seattle area, where she decided to pursue a sales career with her local paper. Starting out in classified she quickly advanced to outside sales where she was able to excel and win a number of WNPA awards.

Andrea’s move to become the publisher at the Redmond Reporter in 2007 was the perfect way for her to combine her management, creativity, passion and sales background into one challenging position. There she has been able to guide the paper to success through many innovative and lucrative changes. The Redmond Reporter became the recipient of a number of WNPA awards under her leadership. She also fostered strong alliances with the City of Redmond, The Redmond Chamber of Commerce and the Redmond Rotary. Programs such as Best of Redmond, Holiday Greetings, Rotary Shares, Show me the Savings - coupons, Redmonds Cutest Kids and many others began under her leadership.

When she is not at the paper Andrea enjoys spending time at home with her husband and 2 kids.
